Managing Workplace Anxiety
Managing Workplace Anxiety
The sensation you get that makes your stomach sort of lurch downwards when you’re about to do a Team delivery of bad news, or simply looking at your inbox and realizing you’ll never in your life be able to answer it all? That’s workplace anxiety, and in case you think of yourself as the only one grappling with it, think twice. Close to 40% of employees are stressed during a typical workday, and as a manager, it’s your job to not only cope with your stress but help manage your team’s as well.
The thing about anxiety at work: It’s not going anywhere. Deadlines, unpleasant conversations, performance reviews, budget pressures — all are components of the job. But what distinguishes effective managers is their ability to handle these situations without allowing anxiety to undermine productivity or team morale. I’ve taught managers all over Sydney that managing anxiety isn’t about ridding themselves of all the stress (for good luck with that); it’s more about having practical strategies that actually work when the pressure is on.
This is not about meditation apps and corporate wellness fluff. It’s about real tools for real situations. Such as what to do when you just can’t fall asleep because of work-related anxiety or how to have that tough talk with a subpar employee without feeling your heart pounding. We will discuss the early warning signs of the ‘burnout’ in you and in your crew and evidence-based strategies for how to deal with managing stress before it escalates.
You will discover how to develop a culture in which people feel comfortable saying they’re having difficulty, and be glad they did, rather than going along and lying about it until they hit a barrier. We’re going to discuss how to tell the difference between normal work pressure and anxiety levels that are problematic, and what you can do about that without feeling like you’re crossing a line or making things worse. And we’ll talk about how you can manage your own anxiety when you’re contending with office politics, deadlines, or challenging team dynamics.

Concluding Remarks:
This training provides you with tangible ways to handle workplace anxiety – your own and your team’s. You’ll leave with techniques you can use right away, almost regardless of whether you’re trying to manage a stressed out employee, prepare for a difficult presentation or just trying to keep the balance in a demanding role.
